The Bloody Win Tour Music Review

WOW! I have to start this review with that reaction because days later I am left speechless from this amazing tour!

Ok, I think I can somewhat put into words this musical experience now… So, on this past weekend, I attended The Bloody Win Tour in Atlanta, GA featuring Tye Tribbett, J.J. Hairston, Tasha Cobbs (not on this city stop) & Jekalyn Carr. Now, I should have already began to prepare myself based on this crazy line-up, but that’s another story. Any who, the concert started off on 10 with the young & talented Jekalyn Carr. She opened with her hit single “Bigger” and was nothing short of power-packed vocals! She even took us back during her set with her first hit single “Greater Is Coming”. Her pure, strong tone pierced through each note and connected immediately with the packed audience. This was my first time seeing her live & I must say I was beyond amazed by her vocal range & ability. She owned the stage from beginning to end and her background vocals & band did not disappoint.

If she wasn’t enough, J.J. Hairston continued the momentum with a high-spirited set which included his single “You Deserve It”. His vocals were flawless and his group SANG & I do mean they SANG ! …(correctly writing “sung” does not do their vocal abilities justice, #sorrynotsorry). There were several mic tosses during the set which included Sunday’s Best own Zebulon Ellis who was phenomenal & Award-winning, gospel artist Byron Cage.

And last but not least, after a brief intermission, the last part of the concert began with a provoking video on today’s many challenges to open Tye Tribbett’s set. I must say, at this point, I was too amped. His set included an intricate, theatrical intro that encompassed incredible musicianship & visuals. Vocal acrobatics? Understatement. Harmonies? Insane. Choreography? Fresh. And let us show some extra loved to the phonemonal band that played for every artist…they were frickin’ AH-mazing! Special shout out to the female guitar player #femalemusiciansrock. She held it all the way down.

So there you have it…the only thing left to say to sum up this tour…WOW! It is a true, musical experience…like, you really need this in your life. ML Spotlight: Lester Lands

It always amazes me how many doors can be opened through amazing artistry. I know several great musicians who are living out their dreams because of it. I am pleased to announce and launch my new series the (ML) Musician Love Spotlight. I will highlight, interview and show love to various musicians who are making great strides in the music industry.

lester

We begin the first ML Spotlight with professional guitarist/writer/composer Lester Lands. Lester is from New Orleans, Louisiana. He currently resides in Los Angeles. He has played all over the world–extensively throughout Europe–with other great jazz musicians. His musical influences include the legendary George Benson.

NFL Segment

Lester was recently apart of a musical segment for the NFL that aired on Fox Sports viewed by millions!  In the video, Lester is shown singing lead vocals and playing guitar backed by a trio of great musicians. He brings the blues to the NFL in a major way with shots being flashed of various key players. Lester’s witty lyrics highlights players such as Bryant of the Dallas Cowboys, Newton of the Carolina Panthers & many more. Do yourself a favor and view the footage here. It isn’t everyday that these type of opportunities are granted, which reflects how incredible of a musician and person Lester truly is. Make sure to show this musician love! #musicianlove

Recap- BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music Honors 2016

Just a week or two ago, I was given the awesome opportunity to collaborate with The Radio Revival. Together, we covered the red carpet for the BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music Honors which was held at the beautiful Rialto Center for the Arts in Downtown Atlanta, GA.

Now the question is, where do I start? The red carpet was star-studded and buzzing with media, but we managed to collect some great interviews with several major Gospel artists. The list included Eric Dawkins of the dynamic duo Dawkins & Dawkins, Regina Bell, Yolanda Adams, David & Tamela Mann, Brian Courtney Wilson and Deborah Cox. Jonathan McReynolds, Charles Jenkins, Kierra Sheard and Tasha Cobbs also graced the carpet.

The highlight of the evening included appearances from the Trailblazer Honorees Mary Mary who were accompanied by their spouses, mom and sister Goo Goo. And from the ever amazing duo Bebe & Cece Winans who were accompanied by their children.

I must say that having a chance to see these inspiring artists up-close was pretty amazing and their personalities matched their outer beauty. Everyone was full of energy and welcomed our interviews. And if you are wondering, I did attend the show and let me just say you will want to record it when it airs. The performances are absolutely incredible. Kudos to BMI!
